Canal trust hires for development
Northwich-based Canal & River Trust, formerly British Waterways, has appointed John Gilman as regeneration development manager for its development acquisition programme.
His remit will be to secure new canalside regeneration opportunities working in partnership with public and private organisations. Gilman will have a national remit but with a focus upon the North and Midlands. He will be based in the Trust’s Northwich office.
Gilman was previously development manager at Seddon Care Partnerships, where he spent three years, and formerly worked for Miller Homes as regeneration director.
James Lazarus, head of property development for the Canal & River Trust, said: “John has substantial experience in regeneration and development, particularly in house building, partnerships and healthcare sectors. We are excited to have attracted someone with a strong pedigree in land acquisition and are sure he will be a valuable addition to the property team.”
Miller Homes failed dismally with a large regeneration scheme in Salford and walked away having developed only the most profitable bit. The fall out from this episode is still being cleared up.
