Booths Teanlowe takes shape

The new Booths store at Teanlowe in Poulton-Le-Fylde is on schedule to open in November, as work starts on site on the new road layout around the development.

Booths Poulton TeanlowePinkus & Co, advisor to Booths, said the glass atrium at the scheme will be installed in July, along with the new public space outside the store. Eric Wright Construction is the main contractor.

The 33,500 sq ft store, with first floor cafe, will anchor the £19m redevelopment of Teanlowe shopping centre and will occupy the site of the former WHSmith and Co-operative Food units.

A spokesman for Pinkus & Co said: “Our agency team have been working hard on Booths’ behalf marketing the premises vacated by Cosy Corner Cafe and Food 4 Pets. We are pleased to announce that terms have been agreed for a letting of the combined unit to an exciting household name, whose identity we hope to reveal shortly.”

The new link road was commissioned by Lancashire County Council and will run through the Hardhorn car park, one way from Hardhorn Road to Blackpool Old Road. The work is schedule to take 16 weeks and the Hardhorn car park will be closed for the first six weeks of this period.

At the same time improvements will be carried out to the roads around the town centre; Queensway, Tithebarn Street, Ball Street and Queen’s Square. These road works will improve the existing infrastructure, servicing and highway networks surrounding the new store.

In combination these works will provide a faster, more efficient route in and out of Poulton town centre, reducing congestion and improving air quality in Chapel Street in particular. A new bus lay-by is to be created on Blackpool Old Road.
