Bolton bingo site sold to Aldi

WHR Property Consultants has advised Millfield Estates on a change of use for a former Mecca Bingo hall on a 3.6-acre site on Bury Road in Bolton, resulting in a sale to Aldi supermarkets for in excess of £3m.

Planning permission has now been granted for a new 18,000 sq ft food store and ancillary retail uses.

WHR has secured higher value uses on a number of other schemes in the region including a former warehouse at Salford Quays, which has since been let to Pure Gym for a new health and fitness facility and a warehouse on Constantine Street in Oldham, which was sold to Countryside Developments following a change of use from warehousing to residential.

Lamb & Swift Commercial represented Aldi Supermarkets.

Simon Hampson, partner at WHR, said: “We are pleased that we were able to assist Millfield Estates in asset managing this change of use resulting on a very positive outcome for our client.

“We recognised the potential that this particular site offered and knew that it would be of interest to a higher value operator and focused our marketing accordingly.”
