17 Jan 2008, 18:14

Manchester is to get another major tower near Beetham's Hilton Tower after the city council approved West Properties' plans for a 49-storey scheme.

Also designed by Ian Simpson Architects, the same practice behind the Beetham tower, West's development on Owen Street features five towers from 14 to 49 storeys.

The overall project will include 1,094 apartments, 100 serviced apartments, a hotel, 813 parking spaces, offices and shops.

Beetham's tower is 157 metres tall. The tallest of the West towers will reach 150 metres.
