Coronation Street masterplan published

Drivers Jonas Deloitte, Aecom and Jones Lang LaSalle have drawn up a development framework for land owned by ITV, Big Yellow and Crosby Lend Lease around the Water Street area of Manchester.

The framework outlines plans for the proposed development after ITV relocates to Media City and the Coronation Street set is rebuilt on Trafford Wharf. The large site includes the 5-acre Coronation Street set and 19 acres of residential land owned by Crosby Lend Lease.

Proposals include residential, commercial, hotel, retail and public realm space.

John Cooper, director of planning at Drivers Jonas Deloitte Manchester, said: "The Water Street regeneration framework shows how the area can be transformed in a way that will provide significant benefits to the local communities and will complement wider regeneration objectives for the city centre."

Cooper said the plans will connect the site with Castlefield, Spinningfields and the remainder of the city centre together with St George's Island and Central Salford.

Landowners involved include self-storage company Big Yellow, ITV, developers Crosby Lend Lease and Manchester City Council.

Manchester City Council is now consulting on the development framework for the area. The consultation period closes on 25 March. You can view the full framework report and respond at the council website here .
