9 Sep 2010, 10:52
Salford-based developer LPC Living has been granted detailed planning permission to build a retail and residential project in Ordsall.
The development on Trafford Road will include a 156-bed Travelodge hotel, a 50,000 sq ft Morrison's supermarket, 11 retail units equating to 25,000 sq ft of additional retail space, 114 new homes and 359 parking spaces.
The consent is part of LPC Living's £150m regeneration of the area which includes a new primary school, family housing, shops, a new health and community facilities and improvements to open spaces in Ordsall.
Construction of the new Morrison's is due to start next month, followed by Travelodge in January 2011. Liverpool-based architects Falconer Chester Hall designed the scheme.
Simon Ashdown, development director at LPC Living said:
"Although it's early days we've also had strong
interest in the smaller retailer units from businesses attracted by
the site which is located on one of the busiest routes into the
city centre and just 500m from Media City UK."
