St Modwen hands over replacement kiosks

Developer St Modwen has completed seven market kiosks in Wythenshawe as part of its ongoing regeneration work in the town centre.

Six of the units on The Birtles have been let with the final unit expected to be let in the near future. The traders operating out of the new kiosks are Baker's Den, Tolmanis Beauty, the Fone Hive, jewellery retailer and repairer Jems and Jenny's Nailbar.

The new accommodation replaces of a number of kiosks which were lost during the demolition of the Violet and Park Court flats in 2007.

St Modwen's Wythenshawe town centre manager, Victoria Nichol, said: "The centre is really going from strength to strength at the moment and this new accommodation further expands the retail offer we are providing for our shoppers.

"We are working hard to ensure that we create a pleasant and safe environment for people to visit and have a number of exciting events lined up to bring more activity and new customers into Wythenshawe."

St Modwen took ownership of the town centre in 1996 and embarked on a £100m regeneration project in partnership with Manchester City Council.

Pre-lets have been secured with Wilkinson and Netto to anchor the Etrop Court phase of development which is currently under construction and expect to open in summer 2011.
