Space NW plans new science park reception
1 Sep 2010, 11:03
Liverpool Innovation Park operator Space North West, a joint venture between Ashtenne Industrial Fund and the North West Development Agency, is to spend nearly £4m on a 'networking hub' at the Edge Lane facility.
Space NW will invest £2.5m and £1.42m will come from the European Regional Development Fund in the new entrance, scheduled for completion in early 2011. Former Marconi premises will be refurbished to create the new reception.
A statement from Space NW said the new 10,000 sq ft reception area will create a space 'in which tenants receive guests, meet like-minded entrepreneurs, exhibit products and services, and access professional business support services'.
There will also be a tenanted cafe overlooking landscaped gardens, 200 car parking spaces and 17,500 sq ft of offices delivered by the project.
Mark Tock, the park's innovation manager, said: "This investment in LIP's innovation-campus environment will create informal breathing space away from the office in which entrepreneurs can innovate. We are grateful for the assistance of partners at NWDA and Liverpool Vision for helping make this project a reality."
Mansell Construction Services has been appointed on the contract are and due to start work this month. The design team appointed by Space Northwest comprises Archial as architects, HFM as building services engineers, WYG as civil & structural engineers and Todd & Ledson as quantity surveyors.
DTZ are the retained agents at LIP.
