12 Jul 2010, 09:41
Northern Ireland-based construction group Patton has won a project management contract worth £829,000 for the fit-out of the new Museum of Liverpool.
The Patton Heritage division will oversee the extensive fit-out, with a budget of £12m, at the new waterfront attraction in Mann Island commissioned by National Museums Liverpool.
Patton, based in Ballymena, redeveloped Ulster museum for National Museums Northern Ireland. The firm also delivers fit-outs for Top Shop owner Arcadia and Primark throughout the UK.
In April, a £930,000 contract for the audio visual hardware at the Museum of Liverpool was awarded to Surrey-based Sysco.
The 100,000 sq ft museum was built by Galliford Try and will contain roughly 60,000 sq ft of gallery content split into four main gallery areas telling the story of Liverpool in themed displays totalling 6,000 objects.
The £72m museum is due to open in 2011 and is the largest new museum built in this country for 100 years.
The Museum of Liverpool contract team includes 3XN, AEW, Galliford Try, BRC Imagination Arts, Buro Happold, Mott MacDonald and Turner & Townsend.
