A planning application has been submitted by Terrace Hill to redevelop Heaton Retail Park in north Manchester.
The property developer plans an 80,000 sq ft Sainsbury's superstore for the 43,000 sq ft site and nearby land occupied by an existing Sainsbury's supermarket, as well as smaller retail units.
In a joint venture with Peveril Securities, which are part of the Bowmer & Kirkland group and based in Derbyshire, London-based Terrace Hill bought the retail park for £5.7m last year.
Standard Life previously owned the site, which is located just opposite the southern entrance to Heaton Park.
