DJ maps £375m of HCA investment in city region
9 Feb 2010, 10:25
Drivers Jonas has completed a local investment plan for the Homes & Communities Agency and Association of Greater Manchester Authorities for the next financial year.
DJ's work involved the analysis of national, regional and the emerging sub-regional policy recommendations in line with the Greater Manchester Strategy and Greater Manchester Housing Strategy already published as one of the first formalised city region pilots recognised by Government. The city region experiment is seen by many commentators as a first step towards the creation of larger combined authorities incorporating several current local council areas.
Local investment plans are being pioneered by the HCA as part of its 'single conversation' business planning process to align HCA investment with the resources of local authorities, regional development agencies and other partners.
The LIA details HCA investment in Greater Manchester of £375m through a range of funding streams for the 15-month period to March 2011.
Suzy Blackledge, senior consultant from Drivers Jonas, said: "Since its inception the HCA has continued to develop innovative new funding models that dovetail into the growth strategies of local economies.
"Through its strategic approach, the HCA is ensuring its investment can be targeted quickly and appropriately to where it is needed most to boost both housing and longer-term economic development."
