Davis Langdon picked for £150m Salford Uni project

2 Jul 2009, 12:27

Manchester and Liverpool-based consultant Davis Langdon has been appointed by Salford University to project manage the first phase of the university's £575m estates master plan.

Salford owns 68 buildings on 173 acres of land and is intent on refreshing outdated accommodation and improving connectivity over the next 15 years.

The university plans at least five new buildings, the tallest up to 12 storeys, refurbishment of remaining premises, 2,000 new bed spaces and a hotel and conference centre.

Davis Langdon, already an adviser to the university, will help recruit the architects and other consultants for the £150m first phase, which will include a new school of music, media and performance, new science block, 735 student beds, and refurbished Chapman Building.
