Fresh pot available for infrastructure

Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership is seeking bids from developers for grants from the Growing Places Fund after being awarded £13.19m by Government.

The funding is available for roads and utilities to open up development sites that can attract occupiers and generate jobs.

The money will be made available as an interest free loan and the cost of the infrastructure will be repayable back to the LEP from profits made by the developer. The LEP said prioritisation of existing schemes that may qualify is underway.

Robert Hough, chairman of the North West Regional Development Agency and chairman designate of Liverpool City Region LEP, said: "We warmly welcome this support from Government. The LEP has already undertaken extensive work to identify potential GPF applications in anticipation of today's announcement - which reflects our determination to ensure that this funding is quickly allocated to schemes which will rapidly generate jobs and homes in the city region."
