Chris Bamford

Areas of expertise

Since January 2000 Chris Bamford been a founder partner of Virtual Planit and The Planit Group.

Virtual Planit specialises in 3D computer models for photomontages, visual impact assessments, and motion graphics… and then delivers them to dvd, internet, tv, and print. VP’s portfolio is broad and have worked on many projects nationally and internationally for example: the tallest planned residential building in the UK; the largest Sustainable Resource Recovery Park in Europe; and David Beckhams World of Sport in Brazil.

Chris has developed a very strong capability and robust methodology for visual impact assessment for tall buildings. This methodology is in part based upon guidelines set down by the Landscape Institute but has been comprehensively broadened, over time, with advances in software technology, satellite data, and surveying techniques. The methodology can be explained graphically in simple terms and is therefore wholly credible and simple to understand.

Other parts of the Planit Group include Planit IE the urban designers and landscape architects, and the largest practice of it’s type in the North of England. Also, FunkDaWeb who create funky websites for the music industry and the odd property developer.

Previously Chris spent 12 years as Creative Director of his own advertising agency where he won several awards and helped to grow a small business into a successful international practice. Some of Chris’s clients included Motorola, Wang, Danka/Kodak, Polartec, Symbol Technologies, Analog Devices, Timberland, Sequent, Powersoft, Metro-Rod, Thames Water, Alliance and Leicester, The British Army and many more over 15 years. In this environment Chris also worked freelance for Saatchi an Saatchi, McCann Erikson, JWT and BDH.

Chris is a Member of the Chartered Society of Designers and has served on the Committee for the North West of England.
