About Us

Place North West was founded by journalist Paul Unger in 2007.

In 2009, a controlling stake was acquired by How-Do, a business-to-business publishing and events company.

The board of Place North West is made up of the following directors:

Nick Jaspan: director and chairman

Nick is a serial media entrepreneur whose track record includes North West Business Insider, J4B, and How-Do.

Paul Unger: director and company secretary

Paul is a former business editor of the Liverpool Daily Post. He went freelance in 2002 and contributed to Property Week, Regeneration & Renewal, Financial Times, and Architects' Journal among others.

Ben Waterhouse: director

Ben is publishing director of How-Do and previously held senior commercial positions at publishing companies including Insider Media.

Mike Unger: director

Mike is a former editor of the Liverpool Daily Post, Liverpool Echo and Manchester Evening News. He was a board member of the Guardian Media Group for 14 years.

David Houghton: non-executive director

David is director of corporate finance at law firm Brabners Chaffe Street, based in Liverpool and Manchester.
